DC Universe Online is an online game where you can create your own hero or villain characters and fight with or against your favorite DC characters across the DC Universe. The story evolves on Brainiac taking the Universe VS the DC heroes. This is a  joint video game project from Sony Online Entertainment, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC comics. Originally a pay-to-play MMO on both PlayStation 3 and PC but Sony Entertainment tried to open it as a P2P business model last November 1, 2011.

The excitement will just go up upon seeing the cinematic Intro of DC Universe Online. Its really great. Create your first character is also interesting. Some features includes : Choosing between Hero or Villain then Gender then Personality like Powerful, Serious, Primal, Flirty. You also need to pick mentor from Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Then ofcourse your initial power like Fire, Gadgets, Ice and Mental. Then type of Movement (Flight, Acrobatic, Super-Speed). You may pick your weapon too from Bow,  Brawling, Dual Pistol, Dual Wield. Not just that there are also options for Costume, Built, Inspired by some known super heroes or villain like Superman, Batman, Cat woman and Lex luthor. Body, colors,  gears, Face, Head, Emblem, Chest can also be modified.

I ran this DC Universe Online using an old AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-core 2.6GHz with 4 GIG RAM and a 1GIG video Card ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series on Windows 7 64-bit. So far I cannot complain and no slowing of any of my game play experience.

You begin your journey in DCUO in Brainiac’s ship and you need to get out of there. This is for the Hero part and I’m not sure if playing villain would change the intro. Movement can be easily recognizable especially if you are already playing other MMORPG titles. Some superb voice actors are nicely recorded.

The graphics can be rated as 9 out of 10. Its vibrant, its impressive and it adding to the overall gaming experience to the players who are playing this game.  It has also some fast action-based combat animation, skills, super heroes and villain powers that can be appreciated by the players as well.

My highest character is only Level 11 and since this is just my first glance review I cannot go on details as I haven’t explored the DC Universe that much yet but I can say right now the game is interesting and would make a lasting appeal to the players. I got hundreds of screen captured images and will be posting some of it here.

Last November 2, 2011 Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) announced that DC Universe Online can now be played for free. Premium and Legendary access are still there for a minimum fee. For the free access it has the following features :

Free Access provides players with the ability to create two characters, join a League and many other benefits. Honestly, I got excited when I started installing the game client. Maybe because most of us loves superheroes and my hopes are high that this game won’t disappoint me. As soon as you click that start button you will be presented with create your champion screen. Oh boy there are a lot of heroes to choose from or should I say champion to customize. From electricity power to telekinesis down to fire or ice ability.

The environment and graphics looks good and vibrant. The animation of your hero’s abilities when attacking the enemy is colorful and cool that might give you that hero feeling.  My short time checking the game gave me a good impression and won’t be uninstalling it.

Right now my experience in playing this Champion Online is limited since this is just a trial account.  Hopefully by the time they will open its door to Free to Play early next year we will be there to welcome and at the same time explore the other maps or areas of this online game.

LOCO Characters

Lets talk first about the characters in LOCO. Unfortunately, there is no character customization available for this game however, the characters are already stunning and nicely done. You can choose from the 12 Characters/Heroes and each has set of skills which you can use during the battle.

Interface, Keys and other Features

Gamers who are familiar with WASD keys will appreciate this as LOCO uses that. During battles, when your character dies you can actually choose your other character that has different skill sets to counter your enemy skills. This is one way to be on the advantage side. You just need to make sure you observe what your enemy is using against you. There is also a ranking system which I believe it will encourage players to learn more in handling their heroes.

The interface and graphics of LOCO is really stunning and vibrant that your eyes will like it. Its one of the nicest graphics I’ve seen this year. What you see on the wallpapers or images on the website is also the same IN-GAME. Other MMORPG is misleading as it looks good on their website but when you go inside the game its not even closer to the wallpaper.

Game Play
LOCO has a game play which I think you are already familiar with. Think of Real-Time Strategy Game with a blend of Third Person Shooter on a Skill based Multi-player Environment. Your objective is to help your team mates and destroy the enemy structures and their Head Quarters. Along the way you need to fight and kill computer characters or other players.

You can create your own room and invite your friends or you can join other rooms with option according to your expertise on the game. If you are new to the game you can just pick Novice Map. You can also play against the computers or against other players. In order to earn gold you need to conquer mineral points during battle or just kill enemy AI minions. This gold can be use to purchase items to boost your character.

Summary
Since this is just a first glance review and I only spent couple of hours playing the game I might had missed other important features of the game. Right now I can say the fun is there and the community as well. Graphics is also one of the plus point of LOCO.

In this game characters are called bloodlines and its divided into : Healing Type, Ranged Damage, Tank, Melee Damage. All in all there are 16 Bloodlines to choose from with 7 of its own unique abilities. You also don’t need Mana to use the ability but instead there is a cool down.

The graphics of the characters and the environment are great but personal speaking I can appreciate more if there is a 360 view on the characters instead of just top and semi side view.

The Gameplay is quite interesting. You can join and combine force with other players and choose your desired bloodlines before you proceed to the battle arena. There is also a so called Grade or level for a certain room before you can join Team work is the key here and the combination of bloodlines.

The Community of Champion Bloodlines is already there. When I first logged in to the game I saw close to a thousand players who are online with 200+ games created. The community in their forum is also active which I think is pretty good. For me a good game without the community is as boring as Hell and the game won’t make it.

My experience was great and enjoyable. Each player need to practice its aiming accuracy as this skill is needed to be a good player here in Champion Bloodlines.

As what I’ve mentioned in my previous related blog entry, Aika global is a fantasy Multiplayer Online Role Playing game or MMORPG. This game comes with six (6) unique classes such as : Warrior, Dual Gunner, Sniper, Crusader, Night Magician, and Priest.
